All of the small changes I've made to my online MTG store in the past year

A year ago my MTG store's sales per month were £6.2k, now my sales per month are £11.2k. Here is a list of all the incremental improvements I've implemented in this past year to my business, rated on how much of a return I received.

1. Add a Selfie to Every Product Listing I realised that a lot of people would be sceptical of if my site's legit or not. I added a huge picture of me and a 'who are you buying from' section to add legitimacy. I also added my personal phone number, it's been worth the spam. This single change increased my conversion rates from around 0.8% to 1.4%. 8/10

2. Connect Shop to CardMarket I automated syncing between my site and CardMarket, and since then, about 5 to 8% of my sales have come from there. I should have definitely done this sooner. Plus, a presence on CardMarket looks good for my shop. 6/10

3. Ask for Reviews from Customers I started proactively asking for reviews, and it's built a ton of credibility. Almost all of them are 5 star. I was worried that I might have a few bad apples but my friend pointed out this is basically my edge on the larger stores - I can make sure each customer experience is great. It also adds a lot of legitimacy to my store, which is super valuable. 6/10

4. Add a Leaflet with Each Sale I include a small thank you leaflet with a QR code for the mailing list and a simple how to play Magic guide. People love it, adds a personal touch and they often share the how to play magic content with their newer friends. I also include a small discount for their next purchase. 5/10

5. Use a Business Credit Card A small change but a big impact - 1% cashback on all expenses. Shipping, product costs, even those tiny label costs - it adds up. 4/10

6. Increase Last Item Price by 30% As a shop that specialises in older, niche precons, I don't want to run out of stock - it makes me look worse. Upping the price gives me the chance at a larger margin sale but also gives me time to get more stock before it runs out. 4/10

7. Start a Mailing List with Special Offers This has been a huge deal, I've had over 8% of my customers sign up. I promise them no spam and an offer every email they get so open rates are good. I'll typically sell any damaged product on there for a discount, or any sales to this place first. 4/10

8. Increase Margins on eBay eBay absolutely rinses small businesses with around 15% fees. At first I accepted it as a loss leader but honestly it's an unacceptable amount to charge and I'm competing with private sellers who have no fees. My markup for eBay sales is now 11%. 4/10

9. Add additional photos onto each product listing I've literally just taken photos of each actual product, with a half decent background. This has improved my store rating on Google merchant centre so it's probably helped me a ton on the results as well. Even if they are crap photos, it still improves the listing compared to just having one official product image. 4/10

10. Sell a Variety of Products I began breaking down booster boxes into sets of 1 or 3 packs. It took a bit more work on stock management, but now I'm reaching a broader audience. 3/10

11. Have AI Review eBay Messages Every Morning I use AI to look through my eBay messages and respond to any requests for a discount politely saying no due to eBay fees. Previously I'd reply to them later, which is obviously worse. 3/10

12. Search for Reddit Threads About my Site I hadn't realised at the time but there were 2 reddit threads asking if my website was legitimate or not. I just added a comment saying hi, it's me, you can meet me on eBay Live or get in contact, check out my reviews etc. I'm sure this has encouraged some people, it's added to my overall online presence. 3/10

13. Buying in Larger Bulk I started ordering bigger quantities of each product - no more picking up a single deck here or there. This cut down on shipping costs and freed up time I used to spend handling small orders. 2/10

14. Stop Paying Free Shipping on TikTok TikTok fees are brutal - 15% - so adding free shipping was eating into my margins. After removing free shipping, I'm making money on all tiktok sales again. Also note, I'm ok with a small drop in sales after a buyer on TikTok tried to shake me down. 2/10
